I am thrilled to be one of the Visiting Artists at the Gingersnap Creations Blog for the month of June.
The June theme is Flight and today's Chestnut Theme Challenge is Wings (GS57). Anything with wings will work … butterflies, dragonflies, bumblebees, birds, dragons, fairies, airplanes, angels … just to name a few. All you have to do is link up your creation by July 4, 2010, to be eligible to be chosen as one of 7 Ginger Gems (fabulous creations that we feel really exemplify the challenge's objective).
I chose this wonderful Memory Box Inspire Butterfly Collage stamp as my Wings image. I went back to the very first stamping technique I ever learned … polished stone (I clearly remember the day I watched the stamp store owner create magic with ink … I think that was the day I was truly hooked). I stamped the image in India ink on glossy cardstock and clear embossed. Next, I used Studio 2 Alcohol inks in pinks to create the background.
I stamped the image a second time and used more purple inks to create a coordinating background, and then cut out the butterfly and attached it to my base using glue dots along the body and curling the wing with my fingers for dimension.
The background was created by sponging various colors of purple
ink onto a piece of Memory Box Designer paper and overlaying a Prima Glitter Transparency (the little
squares of glitter are the perfect places to hide glue dots for attaching.
The final touch was to use my finger to add some Stickles Glitter Glue to the butterfly for a bit more sparkle.
I can't wait to see what you create.
OMG, I saw this this morning, and went wowza! Beautiful Gf…so ya’ see we got the seed packets at AO! lol
