Through the Looking Glass

Who doesn't love a good story with a lot of fantasy and a hint of quirk?
Ok, so with Alice in Wonderland, you get more than a hint of quirk, you get a
whole load of zany with a hint of logician philosophy.

Artistic Outpost has pulled together some of the most zany iconic images
from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
and Through the Looking Glass, to bring to you a fun collaged set of Alice-themed stamps.

This collection features unique images including the White Queen and the
Dodo characters as well as an ATC sized White Rabbit collage.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to Guest Design for Artistic Outpost for their new release, Wonderland Collage.  When I saw this great image of Alice & the White Queen (who I dressed in red), I knew I wanted to try to incorporate a playing card into my design.  I found a larger playing card in my stash, so I could fit the image in the middle.

I started by stamping the image in India ink on white cardstock.  Then I stamped it again multiple times on gold (For the crown & scepter); red designer paper from Pink Paislee (for the Queen's attire … I then colored the cardstock with red Prismacolor pencil to make the pattern more subtle); light blue Pink Paislee paper for Alice's dress and socks; and finally white cardstock again to piece the apron.   I used a Cool Shadow Copic marker to help ground the characters. This is such a fun image to paper piece.

How fun is this Dodo bird.  I used paper piecing with Basic Grey Kioshi papers to create his unique coloring & then added the wonderful crown from the set.

I have always loved this quote from Through the Looking Glass, and I'm so happy to have it in a rubber stamp.  I wanted some black twine to add to my design, but didn't have any in my stash … so I did what any creative soul would do … I made my own with white twine and a Sharpie marker (remember you can click through for a closer look).
