Sue's 52-Card Pick-Up Challenge for this week is Start Now inspired by this quote:
We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. ~ Frank Tibolt
She talks about turning in assignments late & her ongoing battle with procrastination. I am usually the exact opposite … I'm the one who not only has this week's assignment done, but probably next week's too. I am however guilty of occasionally piling my plate too full of commitments, causing some things to be neglected.
However, what reading her blog reminded me of was this quote:
Change can sometimes be difficult for me to embrace. I can prefer to stay and try to master the current situation, regardless of whether it's a positive situation or not, rather than move on to risk something unknown (and possibly much better). I like plans and maps and guaranteed outcomes when it comes to some areas of my life … which isn't always very realistic.
I need to remind myself that sometimes you just have to sit back, figure out what you like & don't like about the current situation … and if the don't like list is longer … develop a plan and move forward, even if the outcome is ultimately unknown (or find a way to move some of the don't likes over to the like column). Either way … change is a necessity.
That's something that art brings to my life … a sense of play, what if, and why not … now I just need to translate that approach to other areas.
Sentiment is Tim Holtz; Flourishes are Paper Source (love that store) & Rhonna Farrer; butterfly is Artistic Outpost; sketch is CPS; and papers are the new DCWV Songbird Stack. Welcome March … and enjoy the week.
Such a fabbie post…love your thought process and of course your card…
You know, that rings totally true with me too. My depression era mother taught me well not to waste and that’s what “non” guaranteed outcomes feel like to me. Hence, playing with bits and pieces of paper and not having any risk of right or wrong gives me freedom. Well put on your side 🙂

I absolutely love that the challenges bring about so many different thoughts and ideas and projects! I’m so excited about looking at things in ways that are different from my original thought, and this is an excellent example of why! Another reinforcement of last week’s challenge, as well (you did a two-fer and didn’t even know it)! Fabulous – as always!
Odd additional note: I’m always changing – my mind, my location, my favorite things – procrastination is my one “constant”, unfortunately. Thanks for the ‘view from the other side’!
Wow… What a moving card. The butterfly and sentiment are BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for sharing! Beautiful job!
oh i just love the quote! wow… simply moving!
Wow, love this tall card, very striking with the details!
Ooh this is divine. I love that stitching on there. Gorgeous colors. You are a card making diva Steph :)!!
Love this card, Stephanie – that sentiment is something I need to remember. I don’t know how to get a hold of you to thank you for that HUGE AMOUNT OF UNITY stamps I received today! I was shocked! Thank you very much. Can hardly wait to try them. Sue Berker
Hi Stephanie:
The quote about inspiration brought to mind another:
“Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.” Pablo Picasso
I love all your cards and the sentiments really hit home with me this week.
Keep crafting!!!
Wendy
Wow, the verse for this card literally gave me goosebumps when I read it! I loved the original inspiration, what you have now added to it, and again, others commenting to add even more. I’m really loving this week’s 52 card pick up. Your card is gorgeous and thank you for sharing your thoughts along with it!
I really like this card, and that saying is very thought provoking. I am with you when it comes to change. I find it hard coming to terms with change, but once I accept it, things go much more smoothly. I guess I am a creature of habit…lol
Fabulous card and quote!
yeah. i sooooooooo hear THAT!!! 🙂 i love the story…and the quotes…and of course the card reflects all of the thought and inspiration you had going on! very cool indeed! ♥
