I found a stash of holiday cards that I rescued at the office last year, so I decided to try Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge to alter a purchased card. I started cutting out the different design elements from the cards and moving them around to see how I could combine them.
As I did, I realized that the backs of the cards were high quality, beautiful, textured papers. I decided to turn them over and stamp on the backs. One card even had that great colored torn edge that I was able to incorporate to CPS Sketch #146 (told you I love this sketch).
To get the look I wanted for Santa, I inked him in dark brown, stamped on one of the textured pieces of scrap paper from the recycled cards, and then inked again in red (yes, I mess up my ink pads that way … what fun is art if you don't get a little messy??). Stamps are all from my new favorite holiday set, Snowy Woods from Artistic Outpost.
What a great job recycling a purchased card — LOVE how that paper worked for you and LOVE that you don’t mind messing up your ink pads! So glad you played the Stamp Simply Challenge this week!!! Wonderful project!
Wonderful job using the purchased cards!! I love what you did with the torn edge, and that santa image is wonderful! Thanks for playing at CPS again!!

Great card Steff. Very clever recycling!!!
Great card! I love how you combined the two ink colors and I think this santa would also make a good sea captain!(I’m always on the lookout for masculine ideas!)
Great way to recycle last years cards, this is beautiful! Thanks for using Artistic Outpost images!
SO, I will now look at the back of every card I receive! Great idea! I am thinking I have thrown away some treasures. LOVE your card and your use of the CPS sketch.
