Many years ago, I considered myself crafting-illiterate. I just didn't think I had it in me (turns out, I just hadn't found the right outlet).
I always looked on with awe as my friend Betty would rescue something that the rest of us considered trash and make it into wonderful little crafts (one particular memory was making the scoops that used to come in laundry detergent into adorable little Valentines Day candy holder treats for the local nursing home). Well, I can honestly say that this card would make Betty proud.
Yes, my friends, this card is made with the leftover piece from the Purex Complete 3-in-1 detergent/fabric softener sheet. When I pulled it out of the dryer, my first thought was "I could make something with this."
It comes in the cool wavy shape like the box, so I didn't even have to trim it. The front is fuzzy and the back is nice and smooth and easy to adhere with double stick tape.
I started with a ShortCuts clear card base and adhered the snow to the front. The CHF Paint Spots backgrounder and Peace on Earth from River City Rubber Works were stamped in silver on a navy cardstock and silver embossed. This panel was attached to the inside front of the card creating the starry night sky (the snow hides the adhesive on the bottom and I used two tiny glue dots on the top corners).
The trees were triangles cut from DP scraps and covered with stickles. The same paper was attached to the back of the card base. I love the cool 3-D effect the clear card base creates.
A big shout-out to Betty who always thought I had the crafting gene in me somewhere … this one's for you.

Wow, this is pretty cool. I haven’t even seen those sheets. Love the card!
Very creative-love to see cards made with unusual “green materials”. Great snow look. tfs
You are definitely in your creative element! You kick some creative butt! Love it. I have seen those sheets at Wally World but haven’t tried them yet.
TOTALLY AWESOME! Where did you get the clear card base? Cute story, too!
Great idea = great card!
I am thinking of using these for small quilting projects too!
