Critter Crazy

The design team at Caardvarks has gone critter crazy.  For the March 5th challenge, all you have to do is make a card featuring your favorite critter. And, you ask, what might I win?? Well, the lovely ladies at Label Tulip will be giving one person their fabulous February Kit.  You can see what the Label Tulip designers made with the kit in their gallery.  So upload a *new* critter card & link it up to Mr. Linky (at the bottom fo the post) by midnight on March 18th for a chance to win.

My first two creations feature a cute set from Clear Dollar Stamps called Cute Critters.

Critter4wm

The porcupine was stamped in Palette Hybrid Noir ink and clear embossed.  I thought I grabbed a black Prismacolor pencil, but instead realized I had grabbed a 4B sketch pencil.  I really liked the soft gray look, so I kept coloring, shading, and smudging with an art eraser.

I finished with a slight shading for the landscape and a touch of red for his nose.  I tied some Basic Gray fibers around the sentiment strip and then frayed the yarn to resemble the spiky look of the porcupine.  The designer paper is Scenic Route Paper Company's North Shore Fake Red.

This cute turtle and his sentiment are also from the Cute Critters collection.  He was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with an art eraser.  The Hero Arts Four Leaf Grid DesignBlockwas inked with ColorBox Tangerine ink and then randomly touched with the corner of my Lime Green ink before stamping on yellow Basic Grey designer paper and clear embossing.  I finished with a fun felt flourish.

My final card features a vintage illustration of some lightning bugs.  I painted the lightning bug lights with Shimmerz Glitter paint.  The sentiment had a small dotted trail, so I used a sharpie to continue the trail off the edge of the card.

So break out your favorite critters & show us what you can do.
