This week’s SCS Inspiration Challenge is to find inspiration in the gorgeous creations of Japanese watercolor artist Mizue Hirano.
I took my inspiration from the wonderful packaging Hirano designed for a collection of Mary’s Chocolates. The pink circles reminded me of coffee mug rings, so that is where my design idea began.
I watered down Memories Mists Strawberry Daiquiri and then dipped a coffee mug into the diluted liquid. I then ‘stamped’ the mug onto water color paper. Before it completely dried, I smeared it slightly to get a softer watercolor effect.
Next I dipped the bottom of a small spray bottle into Tangerine Chalk ink and stamped the orange circles. I painted in the circles using both Angel Wings Shimmerz and diluted Memories Mists in Orange Juice.
The yellow circles were made by dipping top of a bottle of stamp cleaner into a Yellow Cadmium Ink pad. Finally, I stamped the Paper Salon Monogram Builder #2 Swirled design in Rouge.
I finished with a Pebbles, Inc. Dictionary sentiment sticker matted on Pink Bazzill Bling Cardstock with a couple of tiny orange adhesive gems. I had so much fun making this card & I really love how it turned out … so artsy and abstract.
I hope you find inspiration.
That is VERY VERY COOL!!!
