Holiday Travels

Well, it looks like Dell customer support, and I still need to have another visit.  My new computer recognized my photo card when I downloaded the pictures from my trip … but now it refuses to recognize it as I try to download pictures of some of the great holiday cards I got in the mail … grrrr … technology.

Lights1_2One of our family traditions when I’m home for the holidays is to drive through the light display at the Congregation of the Mother Coredemptrix, a Vietnamese seminary.  It is always such an elaborate and eclectic mix of images.  This one shows the whale swimming up to greet Jonah in the boat, swallowing him, doing a flip over the boat and landing with a splash in the water.

You can also see David swing his flashing slingshot.  As he releases his shot, it flies through the air and sends Goliath sailing.

Lights4In case you are unsure which way to turn as you wind your way through the dark, there are angels and shepherds to point the way.

Lights5 While most of the displays are religious in nature, there are always a few surprising images along the way like a dinosaur ice fishing with a penguin … and of course …

Lights6 the Easter Bunny next to a Christmas tree.

I hope your holidays were marvelous.

  2. Hey, I love these pictures!!! I was looking at them thinking, wow, that’s neat, but when I saw the jumping whale that looks like it’s straight out of an old Mickey Mouse cartoon, I realized we have the same holiday traditions! Then, I thought maybe another place did this, but when I saw the Easter bunny by the Christmas tree, I knew I was right! Do you guys only go through once, or do you have to go through multiple times? We have a 4 year old and a 18 mo old, so we have to go through at least twice!!! Hope your Christmas was wonderful!
