Sewing Sewing Sewing

I had so much fun making this card for the {Caardvarks} A Card to Die for Challenge (to use die cuts in your card design).

Caardvarkssaschipboardwm1My die cuts were a Cuttlebug alphabet cut from chipboard and then covered in DP.

However, the fun for me was in making the background.  I pulled a bunch of DP scraps from my scrap bin and cut them into one inch strips.  Then I began sewing the strips together using a slight overlap and the widest zig-zag stitch on my Janome Mini sewing machine.  I kept adding strips until I had a "sheet" of paper sewn together.

I put double-stick tape on my card front and attached the sewn paper sheet.  Then I trimmed the paper to fit the front of the card.  I added some velvet ribbon and rik-rak and my die-cuts to finish.

I may try this technique again using some holiday papers.  I love combining all sorts of DP for a quilted effect.
