Card Angel

I have always believed in the importance of volunteering.  I currently volunteer as a Card Angel.  This organization is dedicated to to adding a ray of sunshine to the lives of those undergoing IV chemotherapy treatment.

Card Angels are assigned a specific patient, and they send their patient at least one card or letter every week.  Traditional Angels send their patient at least one card or letter and a small, inexpensive gift very week.  My experience with the organization has been extremely positive.  I have been lucky to have a patient who communicates with me (some are silent – reciprocal communication is not required).  She has been so strong and positive … such an inspiration to me.

Lilybean062107wmThis is a ‘you rock’ friendship card that I made with very fun Love Elsie papers.   The four squares are cut from her Roxie Quilt DP.  The background was made with the Cornish Heritage Farms Polka Dot background stamp (love their stamps).  The charm is another coaster die cut attached with a jump ring.  I added one of my step-mom’s vintage buttons to the heart.

My step-mom lost her four year battle with leukemia earlier this year.  She inspired me to become a Card Angel.  Please consider volunteering or donating to support this wonderful organization.
