I had so much fun taking a class from the talented Dori Patrick to make a Mixed Media Colorful Hearts canvas.

It was the first time I had taken a class at this facility, and it was very comfortable for creating.
I chose this card from my Color Cube to inspired by creating.

We started by painting our canvas a base color (that would later peek through in little bits on the canvas that had been covered with modeling paste). I chose the apricot color for my base. I added in some Lumiere Metallic gold paint for some shimmer, because even if it gets covered, I’ll know it’s there (that’s how I feel about my own shimmer sometimes).

Next Dori showed us how to chalk out and paint our squares. I resisted the urge to measure (our inner perfectionists were not allowed in class LOL).

I had fun using the edge of a wedge tool to add more of that Lumiere paint to each of the squares. I used a large black sharpie to frame my squires (not included in the class, but I liked the look, so I did it). You can also see a peek of my favorite Valentine’s Day Sketchers.

Next we picked out papers and hand-cut our hearts. I laid all of mine out before I starting gluing with Gel Medium.

I added some texty stickers to mine to finish out the design.

When I got home, I applied a coat of satin varnish and let it dry.

I had so much fun making this, and I really love the end result. Now to add some hangers.
